New funding award from BBSRC

Carmen PinIFR scientist Dr Carmen Pin has been awarded funding of just over £467,000 from the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) to answer fundamental questions on the regulation of the intestinal epithelium, and to contribute to the identification of strategies for maintaining the health and preventing diseases of the gastrointestinal tract.

The award is based on Carmen’s previous work on modelling the intestinal crypt, and will fund a 3-year research project to extend the modelling approach to answer important questions concerning the mechanisms of regulation of the small intestinal epithelium in crypts and villi that have not previously been addressed.
